Employees and Pensioners

In our business - which depends on the knowledge, initiative, and action of a widespread family of men and women - prompt, accurate and full communication is essential.

In an effort to improve our flow of information, we have decided to withdraw our magazine, Spanner, and introduce a new publication, CP Rail News. It has been designed to provide news for and about railway people in the same way as CP Air News, CP Ships Seanews, and other internal employee information bulletins.

CP Rail News will make its debut in the fall. It will be in newspaper format - lively, timely, entertaining, and informative. We see it as a mirror of what CP Rail and its people are doing and planning - a bright, easy-to-read newspaper that will be delivered quickly to all employees of CP Rail.

In the past, Spanner has been automatically distributed to pensioners as their names were entered on the pension roster. With CP Rail News, however, it will be necessary for each pensioner who wishes to receive a copy of the publication to send in an order form so that his name can be placed on the distribution list. A copy of this order form appears on page 4 in this issue of Spanner.

We believe that CP Rail News will reflect our view that the railway is a growing, dynamic enterprise. I sincerely hope you will enjoy reading it.
