CPR SPIRIT OF 150 RAIL TOUR

 Garmin Shown above is a Garmin/MapSource map of the locations where Canadian Pacific Railway's "Spirit of 150 Rail Tour" will be stopping along its route from Sparwood to Vancouver, British Columbia. 33 Communities will be visited by the train between 12 Jun 2008 and 6 Jul 2008.
 
 Image The special train will be pulled along the entire route by Canadian Pacific steam locomotive number 2816, the "Empress". 2816 is a 2-6-4 Hudson type, class H1b, built by Montreal Locomotive Works in December 1930. 2816 is now the only surviving H1b Hudson. It is one of only a handful of preserved and operating CPR steam locomotives in North America.
 
The consist for this trip includes:
  • CP 2816 4-6-4 H1b Hudson and Tender;
  • CP 35508 Canteen Tender;
  • CP 1401 FP9A (facing forward);
  • CP 29114 Supprt Boxcar;
  • CP 401573 Stage Car;
  • CP 96 Power-Steam Generator Car;
  • RPCX 5503 Coach (leased);
  • CP 99 Baggage/Tool Car;
  • CP 102 Coach Ernest "Smoky" Smith VC;
  • NSR 9107 Baggage Shoreview (leased);
  • CP 110 Sleeper H.B. Bowen;
  • NSR 800702 Business Car Lamberts Point (leased).
The modified baggage car features a selection of artifacts from "Stories of You, Me, and BC", a major exhibition at the Royal British Columbia Museum located in Victoria, B.C.
 
The stage car features the sound of British Columbia, with a live band and stage show by "The Motherlode". Visitors can enjoy and interact with costumed performers depicting some of B.C.'s most entertaining and notorious historical figures.
 
BC150 is a celebration of the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Crown Colony of British Columbia in 1858. Every community in the province is invited to participate in this year-long celebration of B.C.'s cultural diversity, community strengths, and achievements.
 
For this downloadable map file to be useful you require a Garmin vehicle navigation system including MapSource installed on your computer. To save the map file to your computer click "Start Download" below then choose "Save this file to disk". You will be asked where you wish to save a file named "garmin.gdb". Choose any suitable folder on your computer to store the file.
