The train has stopped at Spences Bridge on its eastward journey. This is the junction of the Thompson Subdivision with the Princeton Sub where the track veers off from the mainline in a geographic southeast direction up the Nicola Valley. Track was laid beside the Nicola River during 1905 to 1907 to reach Merritt where the coal fields supplied fuel for the CPR's steam engines.
