After reaching Merritt the track turns southwest following the Coldwater River, a tributary to the Nicola River. This portion of the route was built by the Kettle Valley Railway (KVR) from 1910 to 1912. The Coldwater River is also criss-crossed 8 times by bridges. Two important points on the KVR were Brookmere and Brodie. Brodie being the junction to the famous Coquihalla Sub with its Shakespearean names and mega snowfalls that continued southwest towards the Quintette Tunnels east of Hope. The train is shown here passing the section house at Kingsvale, about seven miles from Brodie.
