Coal trains have created several complaints due to coal dust being deposited on homes along the route. To keep coal dust from blowing off the top of the open top gondola cars the entire train's coal load is initially sprayed with a protective material at the mine then sprayed once again here at Notch Hill. The sprayers are shut-off for this westbound train.
