Representing the last word in steam locomotives as well as possibly the last steam locomotive itself to be ordered by the Company, 5935, in all her power and beauty adorns our cover.

This engine is of the class that is the most powerful 2-10-4 in the British Empire. She is shown here on a regularly assigned test run between Montreal and Smiths Falls and is proving her worth in helping handle the division's heavy freight traffic.

When the tests are over the big locomotive will be sent out to the Rockies to blast up the Big Hill between Revelstoke and Field, where she will be used in both freight and passenger service.

These engines, Nos. 5930-35 are similar in design to the 5920-29 series. However, the newer engines have dual cross-compound air compressors and several other innovations.

On our cover the engine is seen pulling out of Sortin Yard with a tonnage train. She carries the "white", designating her as "Extra 5935 West".
