Canada's Largest Moving Food Bank Fundraiser to Bring its Spirit and Energy to More than 50 Canadian Communities this Holiday Season

The holiday season will be brighter for Canadians who rely on food banks in more than 50 Canadian communities as Canadian Pacific Railway's 2004 Holiday Train is set to roll in support of Canada's food banks. From December 5th to 19th, the popular and colourful Holiday Train will make stops in communities ranging from Ste. Therese, Quebec to Thunder Bay, Ontario; from Winnipeg to Calgary to Port Moody.

A lineup of Canadian entertainers will perform from the 14-car festive train, illuminated with thousands of Christmas lights, providing holiday cheer at each stop while collecting non-perishable food items and cash for local food banks. In addition to its regular evening events, the Holiday Train also will make a number of daytime stops near local schools.

This is the sixth year that CPR's Holiday Train will be taking to the rails for local food banks, where its message of hope and community support continue to grow each year. Since its launch in 1999, the Holiday Train program has raised close to 213 tons of food and over $1.5 million for North American food banks. CPR also will make cash donations to local food banks in addition to the food and money collected along the way. All donations collected in a community remain in that community for distribution.

At the same time, a second Holiday Train will be stopping in at more than 25 communities in the Northeast United States and U.S. Midwest raising awareness and collecting donations for hunger relief in America.
