CPR Double Track Extension

There is congestion resulting from the extension of double track west of Notch Hill.

There are slow orders from mile 79 to 84. It gets really messy from about 14:00 on. Fleets of westbounds line up on the east slope of the grade (between Tappen and Notch Hill) trying to meet the eastbound intermodal fleet (trains 102, 108, 106, 198).

The congestion is amazing. Crews sit on the hill for up to 4 and 5 hours. Then relief crews need to be sent. Complicating this, train 471 often appears mid to late afternoon with ballast cars and concrete ties to set off at Notch Hill.

It's amazing how civilized the train crews have been with each other and the RTC's during this trying period.
