Nortech Gets Order from GE

Nortech Systems Inc., an electronics manufacturing services contract provider, said Wednesday it has received an order of an undisclosed size from General Electric Co.'s rail business to supply parts for a video-camera system used for recording railroad accidents.

Nortech shares jumped $1.39, nearly 25 percent, to $7.01 after the market close on the news.

GE Rail has started shipping the new videocam system to railway operators Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp. and CSX Corp. It will start deliveries to Canadian Pacific Railway Ltd. later this year, the company said.

Besides providing parts for the new videocam system, Nortech is also building custom-printed circuit board assemblies, developing software and performing environmental stress tests.
