Train Whistling Ends on King Street in Town of Caledon

Caledon - The Region of Peel, in co-operation with Transport Canada and Canadian Pacific Railway, has eliminated train whistling at the railway crossing on King Street, west of Duffy's Lane in the Town of Caledon.

Residents in the neighbouring sub-divisions requested that the Region of Peel initiate the process to eliminate the whistling at this crossing due to noise disruptions associated with train whistles.

The Region of Peel worked to ensure that the crossing would comply with Transport Canada's guidelines and a Transport Canada railway inspector assessed the crossing to confirm that it met their safety requirements.

Train engineers will still have the option of sounding the train whistle if they feel there is danger or an emergency on the tracks or crossing ahead.

The Region is dedicated to the safety and well-being of the community and reminds residents to drive with caution at railway crossings and not to trespass on the railway right-of-way.
