CP Rail Marks Saskatchewan Centennial

Weyburn - Canadian Pacific Railway is marking Saskatchewan's 100th birthday this year by naming a rail siding near Weyburn to recognize the province's milestone year.

Centennial Siding is located just south of the city in southeastern Saskatchewan.

It's situated at one of the key points for trains entering or leaving Weyburn.

CP Rail says it has a long history with the province and felt it would be a fitting tribute to mark the centennial year.

The new siding is a section of secondary track on which one train will wait for another to move through on the main line.

The company says it will make train movement in and around Weyburn more efficient and reduce congestion at traffic crossings.

CP Rail employs more than 1,200 people in Saskatchewan.
