The Transportation Safety Board of Canada Will Release its Final Report into the Fatal Crossing Accident Near Castleford, Ontario, in 2004

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) will release, on 25 Apr 2006 its final rail investigation report (R04H0014) into the fatal crossing accident between a Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) train and a sport utility vehicle (SUV) near Castleford, Ontario, on 6 Oct 2004. The investigator in charge will be available to speak with the media after the release of the report.

On 6 Oct 2004, the CPR train, proceeding eastward at 28 mph on the Ottawa Valley Railway, struck a northbound SUV at the River Road public crossing near Castleford. The driver of the vehicle, its sole occupant, did not appear to notice the train until it was too late to stop or to brake. The driver of the vehicle was killed.
