Indiana Rail Road to Take Over 92.3 Mile Former CPR Line

Fayette Indiana - Indiana Rail Road Company plans a small ceremony Saturday, 27 May 2006, to mark its purchase of 92.3 miles of Canadian Pacific Railway track in Indiana from Fayette, near Terre Haute, to Bedford. The sale includes trackage rights over CSX Transportation from Chicago to Terre Haute and from Bedford to Louisville, Ky. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

The agreement was signed late last year. The sale of the Latta Subdivision is expected to close on Friday, 26 May 2006. CPR is expected to operate on the line until Saturday morning. There will be a brief shutdown over the Memorial Day weekend to allow transfer of operations to Indiana Rail Road, then full service will resume on Tuesday.

With the sale, INRD acquires a connection with Paducah & Louisville Railway Inc.
