CPR FP9A in the Canyons
A Canadian Pacific Railway special train led by FP9A number
4106 crosses the Fraser River bridge at Cisco, British Columbia - 5 Sep 2007 Ken Storey.
Cisco British Columbia - Canadian Pacific Railway sent
their business train out to Vancouver this past weekend. It was a hush hush trip as reportedly the president of CPR was on the train.
Since the CPR railway president had more pressing matters to attend to this week (like spending 1.4 billion dollars) he was not riding
the train eastbound.
The train laid over until Wednesday, 5 Sep 2007, when a charter group boarded the train at the former CPR station in
Vancouver for a trip to Calgary.
I set up my camera for the eastbound move at Hatzic, just east of Mission, British Columbia. I was going to get a few shots and head for
my afternoon appointment. The train looked too good to pass up so I cancelled the appointment and the chase was on. I ended up chasing
it 184 miles east through the Fraser and most of the Thompson River Canyons.
On the Royal Canadian Pacific's last scheduled tour through the Canadian Rockies both newly restored FP9A units numbers 4106 and 4107
were on the train but 4107 had traction motor troubles so was left behind in Calgary for this trip to Vancouver - Ken
Storey.
