Milk River Motorists Look Forward to Coutts-to-Edmonton Divided Highway

Milk River Alberta - Motorists in Alberta will enjoy a continuous divided highway route from the Alberta-Montana border at Coutts to Edmonton, by the fall of 2009. Construction is underway to replace the last two-lane section of Highway 4 through Milk River with a four-lane highway running west of the town.

In addition to 12 kilometres of new four-lane roadway, the project includes relocation of Canadian Pacific Railway line, two new highway bridges, and one new rail bridge over the Milk River. Bridge construction is underway, while the rail relocation and road work will begin in 2008. Completion of all phases of the estimated $59-million project is expected by the fall of 2009. The highway is part of the CANAMEX Trade Corridor, a continuous 6,000-kilometre highway network from Alaska to Mexico City.
