Area Man Killed Sunday Morning After Collision with Train


 
Caronport Saskatchewan - The Moose Jaw detachment of the RCMP reports a collision between a truck and a train near Caronport at 9:50 a.m. Sunday, left one man dead.
 
According to RCMP, a Ford heavy truck that was hauling a 26-foot long fifth wheel cattle trailer was southbound on Range Road 283 south of Caronport.
 
While travelling on the range road, the truck collided with a westbound Canadian Pacific Railway train at an uncontrolled crossing.
 
The report stated the driver, who was the only person in the truck, was ejected from the vehicle.
 
The 49-year-old Caron man was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency officials.
 
The trailer the truck was pulling contained cattle. Several of those animals were injured in the crash and had to be euthanized at the scene.
 
The incident is still under investigation. The RCMP has yet to release the name of the truck driver.
