31 May 2008 Test Engine in Calgary     This EMD locomotive is currently testing on Canadian Pacific.   It's been re-powered with an 8-cylinder 710 engine with about 2,000 horsepower. The cooling system has been completely rebuilt. There is a central air system with a pressurized carbody. Electrical systems were updated, probably including a new alternator.   It appears to be an attempt by EMD to counter the genset builders in the lower horsepower, low-emissions market.
