The 5500 Has Arrived

Hopefully, this is what CP 5500 will look like once the Revelstoke Museum gets done with her - Date/photographer unknown.

Revelstoke British Columbia - Just drove by the Revelstoke station and noticed that the 5500, destined for the Revelstoke Railway Museum, has arrived.

It's sitting down in the south hole, by the CP employee parking lot, visible for all to see.

It's been a long time coming and we've been a long time waiting. Numerous times we've been told it's on its way, and numerous times, it never showed.

A few months ago, it was moved from its place of rest and eventually made it into the head end consist of a westbound freight, only to be removed and returned to its nesting place. Cold weather was to blame.

There has been a delay in laying trackage in the museum lot in order to accommodate the 5500 and the robot car.

Originally, there was a verbal promise from CP to have a crew lay the track, but with traffic levels, change of management priorities, or some other reason, this has not come to be.

There's nothing the museum can do but wait politely.
