Train Avoids Possible Disaster
Minot North Dakota USA - The Minot Police
Department is looking for any information regarding the tampering with Canadian Pacific Railway locomotives.
Early Sunday Morning between 3:30 a.m. and 5:00 a.m., someone entered two Canadian Pacific Railway locomotives parked on the siding
railroad tracks near the 1100 block of Eastern Avenue.
The suspects were able to manipulate the controls of the lead locomotive and move them out onto the main tracks.
At 5:50 a.m. a freight train carrying large amounts of hazardous materials, including anhydrous ammonia, was forced to initiate the
emergency brakes.
The engineer of the freight train saw the locomotives and was able to stop the train 100 feet before striking the other locomotives.
