Hammer Time! Spike Driving Championship Comes to Revelstoke

A spike driving competition.

Revelstoke British Columbia - One of the highlights of this year's Railway Days will undoubtedly be the CP Spike Driving Championship on Saturday, 15 Aug 2010.
 
The event gets underway with the qualifiers at 10 a.m. followed by the finals at 4 p.m. Both events take place at the Revelstoke Railway Museum.
 
While machines are used for the majority of spike driving these days, people are still brought out for quick jobs.
 
The event features CP workers from across North American competing to see who can drive in three railway spikes the fastest (for men) and two (for women).
 
The fastest times are generally under 30 seconds, with some doing it in under 25 seconds.
