Train Station Likely to Reopen
in the Spring

Esquimalt & Nanaimo Railway station in Nanaimo.

Nanaimo Vancouver Island British Columbia - If all goes well, Nanaimo's historic E&N Railway Station should be open for business next spring.
 
But before that, it will be shut closed to keep it safe from the ravages of winter weather, said Graham Bruce, the executive director of the Island Corridor Foundation. The building was severely damaged during an arson fire in August 2007.
 
The foundation, a consortium of local governments and First Nations, is still hammering out details regarding commercial tenants for the station.
 
"It's all coming together, slowly but surely, so I don't want to commit to a firm date for its reopening", said Bruce.
