Moving the CPR Bassano Station

Bassano Alberta - The 100-year-old Canadian Pacific Railway Bassano depot is about to move some 155 kilometres to the Alberta 2005 Centennial Rail Museum at Beiseker, Alberta.

Preparations were well underway this past week under gloomy skies.

Two main steel longitudinal box beams 200 feet long will be placed beneath the station for the move.

The station complete with freight shed totals 156 feet long and will be moved in one piece in a few weeks.

The new concrete foundation at the Alberta 2005 Centennial Rail Museum in Beiseker is ready to accept the station.
