Barrie Man Charged with Stealing Railway Equipment

Springwater Township Ontario - Provincial police have charged a Barrie man after railway equipment, including the large metal hardware used to attach the track to the rail ties, were stolen in the Grenfel Avenue area.
 
Huronia West OPP officers responded around 6:30 a.m., Friday, after a suspicious man was seen in the area.
 
Following the investigation, police say the man had been in the process of stealing the equipment.
 
A 46-year-old Barrie man has been charged with theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property, engaging in prohibited activity while on premises, and driving while under suspension.
 
He is scheduled to appear in Collingwood court on 6 Sep 2011.
