The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada and Canadian Pacific Ride the Rails to Raise $90,000 During Summer Fundraising Tour

Calgary Alberta - Canadian Pacific (CP) and The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada have wrapped up another successful summer raising $90,000 through Heritage train public ticket sales to create wishes for children with life threatening illnesses. This fundraising effort, which also raised $50,000 in 2010, was the latest in a relationship with CP that spans over a decade generating nearly $400,000 for the charity.

Chris Kotsopoulos, Chief Executive Officer for The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada noted:  "We are grateful for our partnership with CP. As the number of wishes Children's Wish grants continues to increase every year, the collaborative support of partners like CP helps to ensure our ongoing tradition of never having refused a wish to an eligible child. CP provides an outstanding example of how creating a community experience as a platform for public support can be rewarding to all involved."

"Over the last decade, our Heritage program has served as a roving ambassador to the communities we operate through," said Jane O'Hagan, CP Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. "We are pleased that our program and employees have made a positive impact and increased awareness of this deserving charity, as well as offer a unique and wonderful experience for the 3,000 passengers who rode the train this summer."

The public were able to purchase tickets to ride CP's Heritage train through the Children's Wish website. CP and Children's Wish hosted Wish Families and passengers from across the country offering a unique and nostalgic experience in our vintage Heritage train cars allowing passengers to view Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan in a way only the train could offer.

CP's partnership with The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada began eight years ago as a grass roots employee led initiative that collected proceeds from water bottle recycling. These fundraising initiatives have grown to include other activities and continue to be supported by CP front line employees, who also volunteer their time for this worthy cause.
