No Train But the Station Has Arrived

On Thursday, 19 July 2012, the Bassano station completed the final leg of its move from Bassano to Beiseker.

Travelling on the Trans-Canada Highway through Irricanna various electric power lines were raised along its route so the station would clear them causing highway traffic to stop.

While waiting for the road to re-open people were out of their cars taking pictures.

The final approach through Beiskeer was on Highway 72 which was closed for at least 30 minutes while the station passed.

As the station turned off the highway it arrived on the abandoned Canadian Pacific Railway Langdon Subdivision sub grade which is now Museum land.

With the towing frame parked next to a prepared concrete foundation supports were inserted under the long station support beams then the wheel sets were lowered and pulled out from under the beams.

All that's left to do is jack it onto the foundation.

It may be a few months until that will happen but in the meantime work will be starting on the roof.
