Heritage Park Railway Days

Calgary Alberta - Heritage Park Historical Village and Canadian Pacific are proud to present the 26th annual Railway Days at Heritage Park Historical Village on 29 and 30 Sep 2012.

Train aficionados big and small will enjoy a full weekend of railway related activities, displays, and demonstrations.

Marvel at the sheer power of the double-headed steam engine as it circles the Park and takes on water.

Catch a rare glimpse of the turntable in action behind the Roundhouse, and enjoy a special cab tour.

Stop by the Rail Pavilion to view the spectacular model train layouts and visit with the vendors.

Enter your railway photos in our returning photography contest, or view the entries on display during the weekend.

Discover the significance the railway had on the development of western Canada as rail history comes to life through behind the scenes tours and lively presentations.

On Sunday at 2 p.m. the always-popular Train Pull Competition returns with members of the Canadian Pacific Police Service and the Special Olympics competing to pull Heritage Park's massive 85 tonne steam engine 30 feet.

This year's event also features the return of Canadian Pacific's Spike Driving competition.

Following CP's district "spike offs", the top men and women from across CP's North American network will showcase their strength, skill, and accuracy in a competition to determine the fastest spike driving man and woman in the company.

On both Saturday and Sunday, the first 500 guests who arrive before 10:30 a.m. and pay regular admission can enjoy Heritage Park's famous FREE pancake breakfast, served hot off the grill in Gunn's Dairy Barn!
