Woman Hit and Killed by CP Train in Maple Ridge

Vancouver British Columbia - A woman has been hit and killed by a CP freight train near Maple Ridge.
 
The accident happened at about 4:30 this morning at the Port Haney station.
 
A CP spokesman says an investigation is underway to determine why the middle-aged woman was on the tracks.
 
Ed Greenburg says the crew could not stop the train before it hit the unidentified victim and the shaken crew members have been given time off as they cope with the tragedy.
 
Commuters on the West Coast Express experienced delays this morning.
 
The West Coast Express did not stop at Port Haney this morning while police investigated, however all other stations were serviced.
 
Trains ran about 20 minutes late, according to a news release from the West Coast Express.
 
Regular service was to resume in the afternoon.
