"Tough Railroaders Rough Railroad" Brings Memories to Life

Revelstoke British Columbia - The Revelstoke Railway Museum has launched a new virtual exhibition entitled "Tough Railroaders, Rough Railroad" a Community Memories virtual on-line exhibit.
 
"Now our grandchildren and their children can see grandpa in the future," retired railroader James Walford said after the presentation of highlights for 25 visitors in the Doug Weir Theatre on National Senior's Day.
 
The online exhibit features a gallery of short videos of Coffee Club sessions from last winter intermingled with archival photographs and photos of artifacts from our museum collection. The stories invite you to explore the role of the Canadian Pacific Railway in the Revelstoke community through the experience of the railroaders themselves. The project was funded by the Canadian Heritage Information Network and New Horizons for Seniors.
 
Danielle Carrier of the Department of Canadian Heritage describes this program as "an important part of the Federal Government's strategy to create and promote Canadian cultural content in cyberspace, the Virtual Museum of Canada gateway showcases original material, drawing on the countless stories and treasures held in trust by Canada's museums."
 
"Thanks to productions such as yours, Canada's multi-faceted heritage comes to life on computer screens across the country and around the world," she said in a letter to the museum.
 
Open every day, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in October, the Revelstoke Railway Museum encourages you to visit, however, the virtual exhibit is available anytime.
