Black Bear Killed Along Train Tracks Near Field B.C.

Field British Columbia - Parks Canada officials have confirmed another bear has been killed on the railway tracks.

This incident, involving an adult male black bear that was known to Parks staff, happened early Tuesday near Field, B.C.

The bear, known as Bear No. 9, had previously been collared and though he was not considered a problem bear, officials had spent time trying to condition him in the past.

"It's certainly disappointing because we had invested so much in this bear", said science advisor Kris McCleary.

She said it speaks to the importance of ongoing research between Parks Canada and CP regarding animal strikes on the tracks.
