Future of E&N Courtenay Station
Remains Uncertain

Courtenay Vancouver Island British Columbia - Next year will be a very significant one for the Comox Valley's historic train station, which celebrates its centennial.

Some are worried the landmark won't be ready for the celebration in time after falling into disrepair.

The building needs interior and exterior painting but the priority is repair of the roof, which is showing its age.

The heavily moss covered roof is leaking in numerous places resulting in damages inside the building.

A large group of volunteer tradespeople worked for three years in the 1990's to bring the building up to standards but some of those efforts could be reversed unless the leaks are repaired.

Representatives from the Island Corridor Foundation are due to tour the building within the next few weeks but there is no guarantee the foundation will have the money to repair the problems.
