Ties Burning

Port Hope Ontario - Port Hope firefighters were called to the viaduct Wednesday afternoon where railway ties were burning over the Ganaraska River.
 
Port Hope's aerial truck was in for repairs and Cobourg's aerial truck responded, but wasn't needed.
 
Cobourg firefghters stood by while Port Hope firefighters extinguished the blaze.
 
Several times over the last few years the wooden spacers have caught fire as a result of passing trains on the CP tracks.
 
Police cordoned off an area and detoured traffic as firefighters extinguished the blaze.
 
Rail traffic was stopped for approximately one hour.
