Forklift on Truck Didn't Quite Make it Under the Water Street Railway Bridge in Cambridge

Cambridge Ontario - A forklift was knocked off the back of a truck driving under a low railway bridge in Cambridge just after dawn Wednesday.

Nobody was injured, but the forklift was left smashed and sitting in the middle of Water Street North at Samuelson Street, causing a morning traffic mess along the busy four-lane road.

The crash was reported about 6:45 a.m., said Olaf Heinzel, spokesperson for Waterloo Regional Police.

Canadian Pacific Railway was notified to inspect the oft-battered bridge.

It's a regular headache for truck drivers along the Highway 24 route between Highway 401 and Brantford.

Trucks routinely stop short of the bridge then back up to take narrow side streets to cross the railway's main tracks in southern Ontario.

Sometimes, truckers scrape under the bridge.

Occasionally, trucks jam underneath like a cork in a bottle.
