Tracks Repaired at Pointe Claire
Train Derailment Site

Montreal Quebec - Four cars on a Canadian Pacific Railway freight train derailed in Pointe Claire early Saturday, closing of a section of track for several hours as repair crews worked to get the vehicle moving.

The cars, which were empty, tilted slightly off the rails on one side just before 9 a.m., said CP spokesperson Ed Greenberg.

There were no injuries, nothing spilled, and there was never any danger to public safety, he noted.

The cause of the derailment remains under investigation, Greenberg said.

The tracks were repaired Saturday and a mandatory inspection done, he said.

The derailment occurred near the intersection of Donegani and Chester Avenues.

That section of the rail line, which includes both an eastbound and westbound track, is shared by the Agence Metropolitaine de Transport.

The AMT did not report any disruption to its Vaudreuil-Hudson line service in that area on Saturday afternoon.
