Two Injured as Freight Train and SUV Collide in City's Southeast

Calgary Alberta - Two men were sent to hospital following an early morning collision between a Sports Utility Vehicle and a freight train on 68 Street S.E.
 
At approximately midnight, fire crews and EMS were dispatched to the railway crossing near the intersection of 68 Street and Applewood Drive S.E. where they discovered two injured men trapped in the wreckage of an older model SUV.
 
Firefighters freed the men from the SUV using hydraulic tools.
 
EMS transported the two patients to hospital.
 
The extent of the injuries to the men has not been released.
 
Police and railway inspectors are conducting an investigation into the crash.
 
A section of 68 Street was closed for several hours following the crash.
 
The road has reopened to traffic.
