Update from CP After Derailment

Ignace Ontario - The Transportation Safety Board has requested information and parts from the CPR, following a derailment near Ignace over the weekend.

The railway has also said they're investigating the cause of the incident, which took place early Saturday morning.

Fourteen grain cars left the tracks 10 kilometres east of the community, but no injuries have been reported.

Repair crews restored traffic flow Sunday afternoon.

A representative from CPR, Salem Woodrow, also offered an update.

"It is premature to speculate on the cause, or any other aspects of this incident. An extensive investigation will be conducted into, not only the cause, but what led to the cause. The safety of CP's operations, the communities in which we work, and our staff is paramount. This is our company's first priority," she said in an e-mail earlier this afternoon.
