Canadian Pacific Railway Boss Hunter Harrison Rails Against NIMBYs

Calgary Alberta - Canadian Pacific Railway boss Hunter Harrison says he doesn't agree with the ruling against noise in his yard in southeast Calgary.

His yard has to be in somebody's backyard, CP's CEO says of Alyth Yard.

But he also says the ruling made last summer by the Canadian Transportation Agency, ordering CP to stop locomotive testing and repair work at Alyth from between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m., is being followed.

"I didn't agree with the ruling. I don't think it's good for the rail workers. I don't think it's good for Calgary overall," Harrison said.

"With due respect to the people of Inglewood, North America is turning into "not in my back yard" territory. I don't care what you do just don't do it in my back yard."

The order for Alyth Yard to quiet down came after three years of Inglewood residents battling for it to happen, though in February angry voices are still shouting over that noise.
