Leduc Train Car Crash
Leaves Motorist Dead

Leduc Alberta - An elderly man is dead following a crash with a Canadian Pacific Railway train in Leduc, south of Edmonton, this afternoon.

Neither of the two crew men aboard the train, a maintenance train of one locomotive and two cars carrying track materials, was hurt, said spokesperson Ed Greenberg.

Emergency crews were called to the crash site at 50th Avenue and 46th Street at around 3:30 p.m.

The victim was the lone occupant of the eastbound car, which was pushed a few hundred metres down the track, police said.

The crossing has warning lights, bells, and gates, said Greenberg, and the initial investigation shows they were functioning properly.
