Man Suffers Fatal Injuries While Attempting to Cross Tracks Underneath a Slow Moving Train

Calgary Alberta - An unidentified man's attempt to make his way to the other side of the train tracks, near the communities of Ramsay and Inglewood, has cost him his life.
 
EMS and police responded to the CP tracks in the 900 block of 8 Street S.E. at 6:30 a.m., Sunday, following reports of a collision involving a freight train and a pedestrian.
 
According to EMS spokesperson Stuart Brideaux, crews located a severely injured man, believed to be in his fifties, near the train tracks.
 
The man was transported to Foothills Hospital in critical, life-threatening condition.
 
The man's injuries proved fatal and he succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
 
At the time of the incident, the man was accompanied by a woman.
 
She is not believed to have attempted to cross the tracks beneath the CP freight train which was shunting cars.
 
The Canadian Pacific Railway Police Service is leading the investigation into the fatal incident.
