Man Charged After Truck Gets Stuck
on Train Tracks Causing Long Delays

Central Frontenac Ontario - A man is facing charges in connection with a traffic incident that police say caused lengthy delays for trains and motorists in eastern Ontario.

Provincial police say it all began when a truck tried to turn left Saturday at an intersection in Central Frontenac, about 50 kilometres north of Kingston.

They say the vehicle jumped a curb and became embedded on the Canadian Pacific Railway tracks.

The truck, which was pulling a trailer, was eventually freed but police say the driver left the scene without reporting the incident.

CP Rail says it will cost about $10,000 to repair the damage, adding it was about 10 hours before rail and road traffic could begin moving again.

Shane Meeks, 26, of Addington Highlands Township, is charged with failing to stop at a stop sign and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
