Rail Traffic Controllers at Canadian Pacific Railway Ratify New Contract

Calgary Alberta - Canadian Pacific Railway and the union representing some 135 rail traffic controllers said Tuesday the workers have ratified a new contract.

The six-year agreement that begins 1 Jan 2015 includes a general wage increase of three percent per year and other adjustments.

The railway and the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference union said the contract was ratified with 94 percent who voted in favour.

CP Rail said it was the fifth long-term contract between the railway and its Canadian unions.

The railway said it has two other contracts open to negotiation:  its mechanical employees represented by Unifor, and its train and engine workers represented by the Teamsters.
