Charges Forthcoming in Semi
and Train Collision

Moose Jaw Saskatchewan - A collision flipped the semi, obstructing traffic for several hours, causing upwards of an estimated $80,000 in damages, and leaving the driver of the semi with minor injuries.

But following an investigation, a Moose Jaw Police Service (MJPS) spokesperson said it looks as though charges will be laid.

"Upon initial investigation, it appears as though the truck entered the intersection while it was still partially occupied by train cars," Sgt. Cliff Froehlich said.

"The train signals were in operation, and after the truck had begun to enter, the train proceeded to back up and collided with the trailer of the semi unit while it was moving, flipping it onto the side. It appears as though charges will be forthcoming," he added.

Froehlich also took the opportunity to urge drivers to be cautious at railway crossings.

"We have several intersections within the city that are crossed by train tracks and we need drivers to make sure that they're always diligent," he said.

"You don't know what is going to happen."
