Train at Redeveloped Kinsmen Park Ready to Hit the Rails

Saskatoon Saskatchewan - From its birth inside a fabrication shop more than 2,700 kilometres south of Saskatoon, Kinsmen Park's new miniature train will soon be rolling north.

"Anytime you finish a train, it's a work of art," said Arizona Railroad Depot owner Barry Stanaback, whose company was tasked with building the train.

"The bottom line is it's been a year-and-a-half in the making."

During an interview via Skype, an employee blasted the red locomotive's distinctive horn as a signal its journey to Saskatoon was about to begin.

With a price tag of $1.5 million paid for by Canpotex and Canadian Pacific, the train will be a main attraction in PotashCorp Playland at Kinsmen Park.

On 21 Jul 2015 it will be packed onto a semi truck, scheduled to arrive here roughly three days later.

A complex process led and executed by the depot's master builder, Steve Kovac, the train was fabricated piece-by-piece and Stanaback hopes it will become a staple for residents of Saskatoon.

"I'm just hoping they enjoy it," he said.

"Save it for yourself, save it for your kids, and save it for your grandkids, because it should be around for many, many, years."
