CP Trains Collide Near Golden Derailing Cars

Golden British Columbia - The Transportation Safety Board has been called to Golden after a collision between two CP trains early Sunday.

Spokesman Chris Krepski says the trains contacted each other on a railway siding.

"There was a train travelling east on the main track which struck a train that was in a siding, Krepski said."

"The eastbound train derailed the two head-end locomotives and one car which was an empty potash car. The other train derailed the last car, which was a loaded non-dangerous goods car. Everything derailed upright."

CP says no one was injured and there are no public safety issues.

It says the derailment happened around 02:30 PT, 50 kilometres west of Golden.

TSB investigators are now on scene.
