Driver Flees Accident Scene
at Rail Crossing


Cartier Ontario - Sudbury OPP are seeking the assistance of the public to locate a person who damaged a crossing arm at a CP railway crossing.
 
On 21 Nov 2015 at around 11:00 members of the Sudbury OPP responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 144 at the Canadian Pacific Railway crossing, south of Benny Road at Bannerman Lake, north of Cartier.
 
Investigation revealed a southbound pickup truck pulling a trailer drove through the erected crossing arm as a train approached the crossing, tearing the arm off at its base.
 
The vehicle failed to remain at the collision scene and continued southbound on Highway 144.
 
The total amount of damage, including the cost of a new crossing arm, is approximately $2,000.
 
Any person with information regarding the person(s) responsible for this incident should immediately contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or their nearest police authority.
