Heritage Reefer at Revelstoke

Revelstoke British Columbia - The Kelowna Museums Society acquired one of the last salt brine refrigerator cars from the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1987.

The car languished on an industrial spur in north Kelowna for a number of years where it was vandalized and covered with unsightly graffiti.

Because Canadian National abandoned the trackage in Kelowna, which is to be ripped up and replaced by a biking trail, the Society needed to find a home for this piece of industrial history.

As a result the Society paid to have the reefer trucked from Kelowna to Revelstoke where it arrived around the 18th of December.

It now rests on the ground in the old Canadian Pacific K Yard off Victoria Road in Revelstoke.

Currently there is too much snow around the Revelstoke Railway Museum, but when Spring arrives, it will be moved to its new home there.
