CP Holiday Train Raises More
Than $1 Million

North America - Donations raised through the Canadian Pacific (CP) Holiday Train program this year have reached a tally of more than $1 million, the company announced Thursday.

The brightly lit train, which had stops across Canada and in the United States, collected $1.2 million for food banks, in addition to 250,000 pounds of food.

"With the need for food banks continually increasing in both Canada and the U.S., the importance of the CP Holiday Train program in the community is also increasing," CP CEO E. Hunter Harrison said in a news release.

"Beyond food and monetary donations, the CP Holiday Train generates goodwill, raises spirits, and helps people start the holidays off on the right foot."

The Holiday Train in Canada featured free performances at each stop from musicians Dallas Smith and the Odds.

A U.S. train featured performers including Kelly Prescott, Doc Walker, Colin James, and Jonathan Roy.

The holiday train program also provides Food Banks Canada with $250,000 in in-kind transportation services.

The Holiday Train program has raised more than $13 million and four million pounds of food since its inception in 1999, CP said.

The train is 1,000 feet in length with 14 rail cars decorated with hundreds of thousands of LED lights.
