Calgary Marks 150th Anniversary
of Confederation

Calgary Alberta - One organization uniquely qualified to help Calgarians reminisce about Canada's past 150 years is Heritage Park, which undertook a special project for the anniversary.

"A National Pride:  Alberta's Gift to the Nation" involves the restoration of a railway treasure.

Only two wooden Colonist Cars, dating from 1905, exist in the country, and Heritage Park has had one since 1964.

It will take years to restore number 1202, which was used during Canada's greatest wave of immigration.

Park visitors will be able to check in on the progress over the year but a travelling exhibit and performance will take the settlers' story across the country.

"This is a Canadian story of embracing immigration, then and now," said Alida Visbach, president and CEO of Heritage Park.
