CP Train Derails in Bawlf


Bawlf Alberta - A Canadian Pacific Railway (CP) train derailed in Bawlf Saturday morning.
 
The train derailed just before 10:00 CP spokesperson Jeremy Berry said in an email.
 
No one was injured and there is no threat to public safety.
 
The train was not carrying dangerous goods, Berry said.
 
The derailment is currently blocking the crossing at Range Road 18 by Highway 13 east.
 
RCMP are assisting at the scene, and the cause of the derailment is under investigation.
 
"CP takes this incident extremely seriously and has enacted its emergency response processes," Berry said.
 
"Crews and equipment have been deployed to the site."
 
Transportation Safety Board of Canada spokesperson Chris Krepski said 29 train cars loaded with potash derailed, and he confirmed no dangerous goods were involved in the collision.
 
"We have investigators on the way," he said.
 
Bawlf is around 25 kilometres southeast of Camrose.
