Two Teenaged Girls
Fall Off Moving Train

Mississauga Ontario - A 15-year-old girl is in hospital with life-threatening injuries while her teenaged friend was seriously injured when they fell from a moving train in Mississauga Sunday.

The incident occurred around 02:00 near the railway crossing on Wolfedale Road, south of Central Parkway, and involved a moving Canadian Pacific (CP) freight train.

The girls snuck onto the train on Howland Avenue in Toronto and "they were hanging off the side" when they fell off, according to Peel Regional Police Const. Harinder Sohi.

Peel Region Paramedics rushed the 15-year-old to a Toronto trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.

Her friend, aged 16, suffered serious injuries that aren't considered life-threatening.

The two friends were initially reported as being older, but police clarified their ages Sunday afternoon.

CP Police are now investigating.

Sohi said this tragic incident is a reminder for people to not walk on the train tracks or go onto moving trains.

Residents in the area were shocked at what transpired near their homes.

"Not sure what they were thinking," said mother of two, Vesna Gudelj, who lives on nearby Strabane Drive.

"It's such a bizarre thing, not to mention incredibly dangerous."

Witnesses are asked to call CP police at 1-800-716-9132.
