No Injuries Reported After Train Derails
14 March 2022

Toronto Ontario - In a tweet Toronto police said the train derailed in the Neilson Road and McLevin Avenue area at 15:02.

"Several cars" were off the tracks.

However, officers said no injuries were reported.

Toronto Fire Platoon Chief Randy Smith, said the agency received word that a train had derailed.

Smith said a CP crew will work to return the cars right-side-up.

He said Toronto Fire was concerned that sulfuric could have leaked from the cars, however, none of the cars suffered enough damage to breach the contents and release any of the hazardous materials.

According to Smith, there is no threat to the environment or to residents in the area.

Smith said CP estimates it will take several hours to clear the scene.

In an update late Sunday, Toronto Fire said crews would remain at the scene overnight.

Their hazmat crew is working with CP's hazmat crew to stabilize the rail cars, fire officials said.
